Multiply 85 x 95 in a simply way

 

How to multiply the numbers below in a simple way..

      x   9   5
 
Steps:
1. from the left side multiply the 5 x 5 and write it below (25)
2. Do same to the 8 x 9 and write it below. (72)
3. Multiply the diagonal numbers 8 x 5 = (40)
4. Do same to the 9 x 5 = (45)
5. Add the results for step 3 and 4 that is 40 + 45 = (85)
6. Now write it below the results you got in step 1 and 2 starting from the left of the second number.
7. Add the results and write it down.
